When you come to The Strand, it’s important that you feel amazing both in the salon chair and when you’re out showing off your new style. Recently, we were able to make some very special clients feel amazing, too.
For nearly a decade, The Strand has participated in the Glamourazzi Day at MU Women’s and Children’s Hospital. At Glamourazzi, children get pampered with haircuts, makeup, nail paint, and temporary tattoos. It’s a night of fun, relaxation, and pampering for the children in the hospital and their families—people who don’t often get the chance to relax and be pampered.
The annual event is a great way to get to know the children, the families, and their stories, and build relationships that last. This year brought the largest turnout ever, with around 15 kids and their families and caretakers.

Glamourazzi isn’t the only outreach we do. This year is the first year we’re participating in the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women Luncheon.
At the event, our stylists will be treating accomplished women and other attendees to services like nail painting and hand paraffin dips. They will also be raffling off a basket of hair and skincare products and a chemical peel package.
For us, this event is not only about supporting the American Heart Association, but also emphasizing the importance of self-care. Women, especially successful women on the go, taking the time to pamper themselves is essential; it’s not vanity, it’s self-care.
It feels good to make people feel good. We can’t wait for the next event!
